Who is Nathan Lyon?
Nathan Lyon grew up in Arlington, Virginia. He went to James Madison University for his college degree. After college, he started working with food at the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington. He began as a soldier and later became a cafe manager.
Nathan's Culinary Journey
Nathan decided to study cooking at the California School of Culinary Arts. After finishing his studies, he worked in several restaurants in Los Angeles. He also started his own business as a personal chef. For four days a week, he worked at a farmers' market, sharing his love for fresh ingredients.
Becoming a TV Star
In 2005, Nathan became a finalist on a popular TV show called The Next Food Network Star on the Food Network. Even though he didn't win (his friend Guy Fieri did!), Nathan got his own show. It was called A Lyon in the Kitchen and aired on Discovery Health. The show focused on cooking with fresh ingredients, and its motto was "Great food starts fresh."
Nathan's Other Projects
Nathan Lyon has continued to work on exciting projects. He started filming a show for PBS called Growing a Greener World. He was also working on a new TV show about travel and food for the Veria network.
Nathan's Cookbook
In December 2011, Nathan shared his cooking knowledge in his first cookbook. It was titled Great Food Starts Fresh, just like the motto from his TV show.
