History of the Awards
The very first Dreamtime Awards happened in 2017. They were held at The Star in Pyrmont, a suburb of Sydney. These awards were created to fill an important gap. Before 2013, the Deadly Awards recognized the achievements of Indigenous Australians. When those awards stopped, the Dreamtime Awards began. They continued to celebrate these important contributions.
How Winners Are Chosen
A group of expert judges chooses the final winners. People can nominate deserving individuals or groups online. Media partners also help with the nomination and voting process. This ensures that many voices are heard.
