History of the Awards
The National Film Awards began in 1975. The government of Bangladesh gives these awards to movies and people who have done amazing work in filmmaking. Since 1975, this event has happened every year. It often includes fun programs with dance and music. These are the only film awards given by the government of Bangladesh.
In 1981, no awards were given. This happened because the special group decided that no film that year was good enough to win an award.
How Winners Are Chosen
The winners are chosen by special groups called juries. These juries are picked by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board. This board is part of the Ministry of Information in the government of Bangladesh.
Who Are the Jury Members?
The people on the jury come from many different jobs. They have included social workers, government officers, teachers, and journalists. Filmmakers, movie producers, actors, and poets have also been jury members. The board also helps organize the movie screenings. They watch all the films that want to win a National Film Award.
