The main Walterboro Historic District is another important area. It's generally bounded by Jeffries Boulevard and Sanders, Black, Church, Valley, and Lemacks Streets. This district was recognized on November 10, 1980. It includes many of the town's oldest and most interesting buildings, showing how Walterboro grew over time. A specific address, 807 Hampton Street, was added to this district later, in 1993.

Other Notable Sites

There are a few other historic places in Colleton County that are also on the National Register.

  • Ravenwood Plantation: This plantation is located near Neyles, about 0.9 miles east of South Carolina Highway 458 on South Carolina Highway 64. It was listed on May 1, 1997.
  • St. James the Greater Catholic Mission: You can find this mission at 3087 Ritter Road in Walterboro. It was added to the list more recently, on September 29, 2015.
  • Tom Williams House: This historic house is near Williams, about 0.25 miles west of the town on South Carolina Highway 362. It was recognized on April 26, 1973.
