Historic Places in Pampa

Most of Gray County's historic places are found in the city of Pampa. These buildings tell stories about how the city grew and changed over time.

Central Fire Station

The Central Fire Station in Pampa is located at 203 West Foster Street. It was added to the National Register on December 30, 1999. This building was once the main fire station for the city. It played a big role in keeping the community safe from fires.

Combs-Worley Building

You can find the Combs-Worley Building at 120 West Kingsmille Street. It joined the National Register on December 30, 1999, just like the fire station. This building is a great example of the kind of architecture that was popular when Pampa was first developing.

Gray County Courthouse

The Gray County Courthouse is a very important building. It's located at 205 North Russell Street and was listed on the National Register on February 20, 1998. Pampa City Hall

White Deer Land Company Building

The White Deer Land Company Building is located at 116 South Cuyler Street. It was listed on the National Register on January 14, 2000. Land companies played a huge part in settling Texas. This building likely helped manage and sell land in the area, shaping how Gray County grew.

Historic Places in McLean

The town of McLean also has a significant historic area.

McLean Commercial Historic District

The McLean Commercial Historic District is a special area in McLean. It's roughly bounded by Railroad, Rowe, Second, and Gray Streets. This district was added to the National Register on December 20, 2006. A "historic district" means that a whole group of buildings in an area are important together. This district shows what a busy commercial area looked like in McLean's past.
