Navarredonda de Gredos is a small town, also called a municipality. It is located in the province of Ávila, which is part of the Castile and León region in Spain. In 2018, about 434 people lived there. The town is high up in the mountains, at an elevation of 1,523 meters (about 5,000 feet) above sea level.
What People Do for a Living
Navarredonda de Gredos used to be a farming village. People grew crops and raised animals. But now, it has become a popular place for tourists to visit.
Tourism and Activities
One of the most famous places here is the Parador de Gredos. This special hotel was the very first Parador de Turismo ever opened in Spain, back on October 9, 1928. These "Paradores" are often old castles or historic buildings turned into hotels.
Besides the Parador, there are many companies in Navarredonda de Gredos that offer fun activities for visitors. You can go on exciting horse riding trips through the beautiful countryside. In winter, the nearby Sierra de Gredos mountains are a great place for skiing.
