Navatrasierra is a small village in Spain. It is part of the Villar del Pedroso area. This village is found in the province of Cáceres, which is in the Extremadura region. In 2014, about 198 people lived there.
Navatrasierra is in a beautiful mountain area. It sits between two mountain ranges. To the northeast is the Sierra de Altamira. The other range is the Sierra del Hospital del Obispo. The highest point in this range is 1443 meters tall. Both of these mountain ranges are part of a larger system called the Montes de Toledo.
Rocks and history
A special type of rock formation is named after Navatrasierra. It is called the Navatrasierra Shale Formation. This rock was formed a very long time ago, during the Ordovician period. That was about 485 to 443 million years ago!
Village celebrations
The people of Navatrasierra have a special celebration. It is called Santo Tomás Apóstol. This event takes place every year on December 21st.
