Navilleton is a small, unincorporated community located in Floyd County, Indiana. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area, like a township. Navilleton is found within Greenville Township.
The first people to settle in Navilleton arrived in 1844. They were a group of German Catholics looking for a new home. One important person in this group was Michael Naville. The community was named after him.
The Post Office Story
For a short time, Navilleton had its own post office. It first opened its doors in 1894. People living there could send and receive mail right in their community. However, the post office didn't stay open for very long. It closed down in 1902.
