Early Life on Oahu
Nawele was born on the island of Oʻahu. His father was Chief Kahokupohakano, and his mother was Kaumana II. This means that Nawele's grandfather was another important leader, High Chief Elepuukahonua.
Becoming a High Chief
After his grandfather Elepuʻukahonua passed away, another person ruled Oʻahu for a time. When that ruler died, Nawele became the new High Chief of Oʻahu. This was a very important position, as he was responsible for leading the people of the island.
Family Life
Nawele was married to a woman named Kalanimoeikawaikai. They had a son together, who also became a High Chief later on. His son's name was Lakona of Oahu. Nawele lived his life on Oʻahu and passed away there.
