Community Safety Efforts

In 2014, there was a change in how community safety was managed in the area. Some people, like Neil Tolan, who works to help the Hamilton community, felt that having fewer dedicated community police officers might make it harder to report smaller issues. Later, in 2017, a group of people, including a local politician named Sue Moroney, worked together to ask for more community police officers to return to Nawton. They gathered support during the Waitangi Day celebrations that year.

Dealing with Challenges

In 2014, some homes in Nawton faced a challenge where they were slowly sinking. This caused some damage and could lead to issues like flooding. The community has worked to address these kinds of natural challenges.

Fun at Dominion Park

A very exciting event happened in December 2016. The Mayor of Hamilton, Andrew King, officially opened a brand new, million-dollar playground at Dominion Park. This amazing playground, known as Te Oko o Kirikiriroa, is one of seven special "destination playgrounds" in Hamilton. It's a fantastic place for kids to play and have fun!
