Nebojša Novaković (born 29 October 1964) is a former professional football player. He played as a striker. He is best known for his time with AIK. Novaković is currently the manager of Vasalunds IF. He was born in Sarajevo and moved to Sweden in the early 1990s.

About Nebojša Novaković

Nebojša Novaković was born on October 29, 1964, in Sarajevo, which was then part of Yugoslavia. His parents were Bosnian Serbs. He started playing football at a young age for FK Bratstvo Vojkovići. As a child, he supported the famous football club Red Star Belgrade.

In 1991, Novaković moved from Sarajevo to Solna, a suburb of Stockholm, Sweden. This was a year before a war started in his home country. People often call him by his nicknames, Nešo or Nebo.

His Playing Career

Novaković joined Vasalunds IF in 1991. He played 33 league matches for them in 1991 and 1992. During this time, he scored 19 goals, showing he was a great scorer.

In 1993, Novaković moved to Djurgårdens IF. He played 94 matches for this team between 1993 and 1997. He scored an impressive 46 goals during his time there.

Later, he joined AIK. He played 104 league games and scored 27 goals for them. With AIK, he helped the team win the Allsvenskan league title in 1998. He also played in the UEFA Champions League during the 1999–2000 season. In one memorable game, he scored a fantastic goal against FC Barcelona with a lob shot.

His Coaching Career

After he stopped playing football, Novaković became a coach. He started as an assistant manager at Väsby IK. He worked with Rikard Norling, who was the main manager. The team won their league two years in a row.

In 2003, he returned to AIK as an assistant manager. He worked with different managers there. In 2005, AIK was moved down to a lower league called Superettan. Novaković stayed with the team and helped them win Superettan that year. They then finished second in Allsvenskan 2006.

In 2008, the main manager, Rikard Norling, was let go. Novaković decided to leave AIK because of this. A few months later, AIK tried to get him back in a different role, but they couldn't agree. Novaković said he wanted to continue being a coach.

On January 10, 2009, he became an assistant manager for Sandefjord Fotball. This team plays in Norway.

On December 16, 2010, he came back to AIK again. He signed a three-year contract as an assistant manager. He worked alongside the new manager, Andreas Alm.

Nebojša Novaković is married to Gordana. They have two children. Their son, Dejan, was born in 1990. Their daughter, Daniella, was born in 1996. Daniella also plays football for AIK's youth teams.
