Meet Nedim Remili

Growing Up with Handball

Nedim Remili was born in Créteil, a town near Paris, France. Handball runs in his family! His father, Kamel Remili, played his whole career for US Créteil. His father even helped them win a top French league title in 1989. Nedim's brother, Meyane, also played handball.

When Nedim was 10 years old, he started playing handball at his father's club, US Créteil. His father was a board member there. Nedim quickly showed great talent. By the age of 16, he was already 1.95 meters (about 6 feet 5 inches) tall!

Starting His Professional Career

Nedim made his first team debut for US Créteil on October 12, 2012. He was only 17 years old at the time. This was during a league game against USDK Dunkerque. That same year, Créteil's team moved down to the second-tier French league, called Handball D2.

Even though big clubs were interested in him, Remili signed his first professional contract with US Créteil in 2013. In the 2013–14 season, he became a very important player for the team. He helped them move back up to the top league, LNH 1.

Nedim was chosen to play for the French youth national team. This was for the 2015 Men's Junior World Championship. However, a shoulder injury kept him from playing. France ended up winning the championship that year.

Joining the National Team

During the 2015–16 season, Remili played incredibly well for US Créteil. His amazing performance earned him a spot in the All-Star Game. He was also called up to the French national team for the 2016 European Championship.

In 2016, Nedim joined Paris Saint-Germain Handball. This is a very famous club. In his first season there, he won his first trophy, the Trophée des Champions. Later that same season, he also won the French Championship.

He continued to play very well and was chosen for the French national team again. This time it was for the 2017 World Men's Handball Championship. The championship was held in France, so they played on home soil. The French team won the title! Nedim Remili was even voted the best right-back of the whole competition.

Olympic Gold and Club Moves

In June 2021, Nedim signed a four-year deal with the Polish club KS Kielce. He joined them in 2022.

He then played in his first Olympic Games. These games were held in 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Nedim's ability to play different positions was very helpful. The coach, Guillaume Gille, used him as a central-half player for the tournament. France ended up winning the gold medal! Nedim was individually voted the best central-half player of the Olympics.

In February 2023, Kielce had some money problems. Because of this, Remili moved to Telekom Veszprém in Hungary. He quickly found success there. He helped Veszprém win the Hungarian championship in both 2023 and 2024. They also won the Hungarian Cup in 2024.

At the 2025 World Championship, Nedim won a bronze medal with France. They lost to Croatia in the semifinal but beat Portugal to win third place. He played in all 9 games for France and scored 34 goals.
