What is a Ghost Town?
A ghost town is a town that has been mostly or completely left by its residents. This can happen for many reasons. Sometimes, a town might lose its main industry, like a mine closing. Other times, natural disasters or changes in transportation routes can cause people to move away.
When a town becomes a ghost town, its buildings might fall apart. Roads can become overgrown. It can feel like time has stopped there.
Needmore's Story
Long ago, Needmore was a small community. It had important places that people needed for daily life. These included a post office, where people sent and received mail. There was also a school for children to learn.
The town also had a church, which was a place for people to gather. And like many communities, it had a cemetery. This is where people were buried.
What Remains Today
Today, most of Needmore is gone. The buildings like the post office, school, and church are no longer there. The only thing that still remains from the old town is the Needmore Cemetery.
The cemetery is a quiet reminder of the people who once lived in Needmore. It shows that even though the town itself has faded, its history is still remembered.
