Needmore is a small, unincorporated community located in Jackson Township in northern Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It is situated about 12 miles northwest of the town of Ste. Genevieve.
The Story Behind Needmore
Needmore was founded in 1905. It was started by workers from a lime plant located in a place called Brickey's, Missouri. Before this, these workers lived on property owned by the company.
Why Needmore Was Started
The workers wanted more freedom and independence. They felt there were too many rules and restrictions from the lime plant company. So, they decided to create their own community. This new settlement would allow them to live more independently.
How Needmore Got Its Name
When the new settlement was formed, people living nearby noticed something interesting. They often said that the people in this new community always seemed to be "needing more" things. This idea of "needing more" stuck, and that's how the community got its unique name, Needmore!
