Nehoiu is a town located in Buzău County, Muntenia, Romania. As of 2021, about 9,464 people live here. The main job for many people in Nehoiu is working with wood. There has been a large lumbermill in the town since the early 1900s. Nehoiu officially became a town in 1989.
The town of Nehoiu also looks after nine smaller villages. These villages are Bâsca Rozilei, Chirlești, Curmătura, Lunca Priporului, Mlăjet, Nehoiașu, Păltineni, Stănila, and Vinețișu.
Location and Geography
Nehoiu is found in the northwestern part of Buzău County. It is about 72 kilometers (45 miles) away from Buzău, which is the county's main city. The town is in a hilly area at the bottom of the Curvature Carpathians mountains. The Buzău River flows right through the town.
Travel and Transport
A main road called national road DN10 goes through Nehoiu. This road crosses the Carpathian Mountains, connecting Buzău to Brașov. There is also a train station in Nehoiașu, one of the villages Nehoiu manages. This station is the end point for the CFR Line 504 train line, which starts in Buzău.
