Nelson Dock is a special water area, called a dock, located on the River Mersey in England. It's part of the big Port of Liverpool, which is a very busy place where ships load and unload goods. Nelson Dock is in an area called Vauxhall. It connects to Bramley-Moore Dock to the north and Salisbury Dock to the south.
History of Nelson Dock
Nelson Dock was designed by a famous engineer named Jesse Hartley. It first opened in the year 1848. Docks like this were very important back then for trade and travel.
In 2007, a company called the Peel Group bought the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, which runs the docks. They announced a huge plan called 'Liverpool Waters'. This plan is all about making the dock areas much better. Nelson Dock is part of this big project, which covers a large area of land.
