Neutral Milk Hotel facts for kids
Neutral Milk Hotel is an American indie rock band. They started in 1989. The band was formed by Jeff Mangum, who is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist. At first, he was the only member.
Later, Robert Schneider joined the band for their first album. This album was called On Avery Island. It came out in 1996 on Merge Records. After that, Julian Koster, Scott Spillane, and Jeremy Barnes joined the group.
In 1998, they released their most famous album, In the Aeroplane Over the Sea. This album became very popular. In 2005, a music website called Pitchfork gave it a perfect score. In 2009, Amazon.com editors said it was one of the greatest indie rock albums ever.
On December 11, 2011, the band released new music for the first time since 1998. It was an EP (a shorter album) called Ferris Wheel on Fire.
