New Alexander is a small, unincorporated community located in Columbiana County, in the state of Ohio, United States. History of New Alexander

New Alexander was first planned and "laid out" (meaning its streets and lots were mapped) around the year 1812. This was a time when many new settlements were being created in Ohio as people moved westward.

The Post Office Connection

A post office was opened in New Alexander in 1829. Post offices were very important back then because they were the main way people sent and received letters and packages. They also often served as a central meeting place for the community. The New Alexander post office served the community for many years before it finally closed down in 1904.
