New Hope was a town located in eastern Dallas County, Texas. It's not the same as the town of New Hope, Texas in Collin County. New Hope later became part of Sunnyvale, Texas, United States.

The Early Days of New Hope
New Hope was started in the 1800s. Over time, it grew quite large. It even became a big competitor to its nearby town, Mesquite.
Life in New Hope
The town of New Hope had many important places. It had its own newspaper, called the New Hope News. There was also a post office and a school. For fun, the town had a baseball club. People could shop at several stores. Each year, New Hope held a special event called Gala Days.
The 1921 Storm
In 1921, a big storm hit New Hope. It caused a lot of damage to the town. After this storm, New Hope never fully got back to its original size and strength.
Becoming Part of Sunnyvale
In 1953, New Hope joined with two other towns. These towns were Long Creek and Hattersville. Together, they formed the new town of Sunnyvale.
What Remains of New Hope Today
Even though New Hope is now part of Sunnyvale, you can still find parts of its history. There are several old houses that were once in New Hope. Some of these houses are still used today. The old New Hope schoolhouse is also still standing. Kearney's Store is another reminder. It sits where the old Lander's mercantile store used to be. This was the spot where the annual Gala Days fair was held.
