New Lebanon was started a long time ago, in the year 1827. It was named after a famous place mentioned in the Bible, Mount Lebanon.
A post office was opened in New Lebanon in 1840. This was an important place for people to send and receive mail. The post office stayed open for many years until it closed down in 1966.
