New Offenburg is a small, quiet community in Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri, in the United States. It's not an official city or town, but rather an unincorporated community. You can find it about ten miles southwest of Ste. Genevieve along Route 32.
This community got its name from Offenburg, a city in Germany. Many of the first people who settled here came from that German city. Offenburg is located between the Black Forest and the Rhine river.

History of New Offenburg
New Offenburg started to grow around a Post Office that was opened there in 1867. This post office helped the small settlement become a real community.
For many years, New Offenburg was connected by the Missouri – Illinois Railroad. This important railroad line operated from 1921 to 1978. Today, the community is located right on Missouri State Route 32, which is a main road.
Many people living in New Offenburg today are descendants of those early German immigrants. They still speak a special German dialect from the Baden region, along with American English. You can also find other people who speak this Baden dialect in nearby places like Weingarten and Zell.
