The Border Mystery
New Pine Creek is unique because it sits right on the border between California and Oregon. Part of the community is even in Oregon! However, it's not the very northernmost place in California.
This is due to a surveying mistake made in 1868. The actual border was placed about half a mile south of where it was supposed to be. In 1984, California and Oregon talked about this error, but they decided not to change the official status of New Pine Creek.
