About the Festival
The Newport Food Festival started in 2010. More than 80 different businesses took part in the very first event! This festival is held every October, and the best part is, it's completely free to enter.
What You Can See and Do
The festival has special stages where talented chefs show off their cooking skills. These chefs come from Newport and other parts of the country. You can watch them create amazing dishes right in front of you!
There's also a "chefs' cook-off" where chefs compete against each other. Plus, there's a special "teen chefs event" for young people who love to cook.
Food and Drink Stalls
You'll find many food and drink stalls all along High Street, Bridge Street, and Westgate Square. These areas are closed to cars, so you can walk around safely and try all sorts of tasty treats.
Fun Activities for Everyone
Besides all the yummy food, the festival has lots of other fun things to do. You can enjoy live music, see funny inflatable chefs walking on stilts, and watch a magic chef make balloon animals. There's also face painting and coloring activities, which are great for younger visitors.
A Short Break in 2020
In 2020, the festival didn't happen. This was because of the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused many events around the world to be cancelled for safety reasons. But don't worry, the festival came back after that!
How the Festival is Organized
The Newport Food Festival is put together by the Newport City Council. Many amazing volunteers also help out to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Who Supports the Festival
The festival gets help from several important sponsors. These include Tiny Rebel, the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport Now Business Improvement District, and Friars Walk, Newport. Their support helps keep the festival free and full of fun for everyone.
