Ngomburr, also spelled Ngumbur, is an Aboriginal language from Australia. It is believed to be extinct, which means no one speaks it anymore. This language was spoken in the Northern Territory, a part of Australia.

It was found near the South Alligator River, within the area that is now Kakadu National Park. Some people thought Ngomburr might have been a type of Umbugarla language, but there isn't much proof to confirm this idea.

What Was Ngurmbur?

Ngurmbur is known as an "unattested" language. This means we don't have many records or examples of it. The only information we have comes from people living nearby. They said it sounded similar to the Umbugarla language.

Where Was It Spoken?

The Ngurmbur language was spoken in the Northern Territory of Australia. Specifically, it was found to the west of the South Alligator River. This area is now part of the famous Kakadu National Park. It was located between the lands of the Ga'baarlgu people and the South Alligator River itself.

The Last Speakers

Sadly, the Ngurmbur language is considered extinct. In 1975, only two people were recorded as speaking it. Since then, no other speakers have been found. This information comes from the AUSTLANG database, which keeps records of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages.
