A Historic Home for History
The museum is located inside a very old building called the Stamford Township Hall. This building was first built way back in 1874. Imagine, it's been standing for over 150 years! Because it's so old and important, it was officially named a "Historic Building" in 1974 under a special law called the Ontario Heritage Act.
How the Museum Started
For a while, the building was looked after by a group called the Lundy's Lane Historical Society. They received the building in 1971, and it became known as the Lundy's Lane Historical Museum. Then, on January 1, 2010, the City of Niagara Falls took over running the museum. That's when it got its current name, the Niagara Falls History Museum.

The museum has a huge collection of items that show the rich history of Niagara Falls. It's a great place to explore and see how things used to be.
Modern Updates for an Old Building
The museum got a big makeover and expansion! It had a CA$12 million renovation project. This means they spent a lot of money to make it bigger and better for visitors. The museum officially reopened its doors on July 21, 2012, after all the improvements were finished. The new design was created by a company called Moriyama and Teshima, which is an architecture firm from Toronto.
