A Look Back in Time
Nibbe began its story around 1920. It started as a station along the Northern Pacific Railway, which was a major train line that helped people and goods travel across the country. This station was built about a mile west of a cool natural rock formation known as Pompey's Pillar.
Nibbe was once a busy farming community located in the Huntley Project area. The Huntley Project was a special plan to bring water to farms, helping them grow crops. Back then, Nibbe had a large building called a grain elevator, used for storing harvested grain, along with several small businesses.
Over time, farming became less common in the area. People also started moving to bigger towns nearby where there were more activities and jobs. Because of these changes, Nibbe gradually became much quieter. It even had its own post office until 1954, which means people used to send and receive mail right there!
