Nicco Annan is an American actor, dancer, and choreographer. A choreographer is someone who creates and arranges dance routines. He is most famous for playing the character Uncle Clifford in the Starz TV show P-Valley. This show was based on a play by Katori Hall called ... Valley, where Annan also played the same role.

Early Life and Education
Nicco Annan grew up on the west side of Detroit, Michigan. His mother is African American from the southern United States, and his father is from the country of Ghana. From a young age, Annan knew he wanted to be an actor. He studied acting and improv theater as a kid.
When he was 17, he joined a dance group. Annan graduated from Cass Technical High School. He then went to college at the State University of New York-Purchase, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater.
Career in Performing Arts
After finishing college, Annan became the main choreographer at the famous Yale School of Drama. He also acted in many plays, both on and off-Broadway in New York City. In 2014, he moved to Los Angeles to focus on acting in television.
Annan has appeared in several popular TV shows. These include Claws, Shameless, This Is Us, and Snowfall. He also works as the choreographer for the TV series All American.
The Role of Uncle Clifford
In 2009, a friend told Annan about a role in a new play by Katori Hall. The play, called ... Valley, was about a dance club in the Mississippi Delta. Annan auditioned and was chosen to play Uncle Clifford, the non-binary owner of the club. He worked hard to create a rich backstory for the character. He performed as Uncle Clifford in the play's full production at the Mixed Blood Theatre in 2015.
Later, the play was turned into a TV series for the Starz network, called P-Valley. Annan auditioned again for the role of Uncle Clifford and was cast in the show. The series started in 2020, and Annan received many great reviews for his acting. The Hollywood Reporter named his work as one of the Best TV Performances of 2020.
Other Work
In March 2020, Annan had a main role in another play by Katori Hall called The Hot Wing King. He also appeared as a special guest judge on the second season of the TV show Legendary.
