Nicholas Lindsay (born September 3, 1992) is a former Canadian soccer player. He played as a forward, which means he was usually trying to score goals.
Nicholas started his soccer journey in 2009 with the TFC Academy team. This team was part of the Canadian Soccer League (CSL). In 2010, he became a professional player. He joined Toronto FC in Major League Soccer (MLS), which is a top league in North America. After three years, he returned to the CSL. He even helped his team win a CSL Championship in 2015.

Nicholas Lindsay's Soccer Journey
Early Soccer Days
Nicholas Lindsay started playing soccer at a young age. In 2004, he played for the Brampton East Chiefs. His team made it to the under-12 finals of the Robbie Tournament. Even though his team lost, Nicholas was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for his team.
In 2005, he joined the Brampton Blast. His team reached the finals of the under-13 Ontario Cup. Nicholas scored a goal in the final game. This goal helped his team win the championship!
The next year, he continued to play for Brampton Blast. He helped the under-14 team win three big titles. They won the Ontario Youth Soccer League championship. They also won a provincial tournament. Then, they won the national championship, beating a team from Quebec. Nicholas also scored the winning goal in another Ontario Cup final for the under-15 team. He was also chosen to play for the Ontario provincial team.
Playing for TFC Academy
In 2009, Nicholas joined the senior academy team of Toronto FC. This team played in the Canadian Soccer League. In his first year, he helped the team reach the playoffs. They finished fourth in their division. However, they were knocked out in the first round by the Serbian White Eagles.
He continued to play for the academy team in 2010. Nicholas scored three goals in a friendly match against a Chilean team called Colo-Colo. The game ended in a 4–4 tie. While playing for the academy, he also got a chance to play for the main Toronto FC team.
Becoming a Professional with Toronto FC
Nicholas first played for Toronto FC as a substitute. This was during the 2010 Nutrilite Canadian Championship against the Vancouver Whitecaps. He also played in a friendly game against Bolton Wanderers.
On September 15, 2010, Nicholas officially signed with the main Toronto FC team. He was only the second player from the TFC Academy to join the professional squad. He made his first official appearance on the same day. It was in a CONCACAF Champions League game against Real Salt Lake. A week later, he started his first game. This was against the Mexican team Cruz Azul in the Champions League.
Nicholas made his MLS debut on October 2, 2010. He came into the game in the second half. He quickly helped set up a goal for his teammate, Chad Barrett. He got his second assist in an MLS game on October 16. After the 2010 season, he was nominated for a special award. It was the Canada Soccer Player of the Year award for players under 20.
Nicholas missed the entire 2011 season. He had a serious knee injury. He returned in 2012 and played with the academy team in the CSL playoffs. His last game for the main Toronto FC team was on October 25, 2012. After the 2012 season, Toronto FC decided not to keep him on the team.
Return to the CSL
After leaving Toronto FC, Nicholas went back to the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) in 2013. He joined a new team called Burlington SC. He scored the very first goal in the club's history! Nicholas was the top goal scorer for Burlington that season, with 11 goals. He played for Burlington again in 2014.
In 2015, he signed with another CSL team, Toronto Croatia. He helped his new team finish second in the league. They made it to the playoffs and won their first two games. Toronto Croatia then won the CSL Championship by beating SC Waterloo Region. This was a big win for Nicholas and his team!
The next year, Nicholas joined the York Region Shooters. He helped them win their division title. They won their first playoff game. However, they were knocked out in the next round after a penalty shootout.
College Soccer Experience
In 2013, Nicholas also started playing college soccer. He played for the Sheridan Bruins. In his first season, he was the top goal scorer in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association. He scored 11 goals in just 6 games!
Playing for Canada
Nicholas represented Canada in the Danone Nations Cup in 2004. In 2010, he was chosen to play for the Canada men's national under-20 soccer team. He was going to play in some friendly matches against the United States. Unfortunately, an injury in 2011 stopped him from playing in a big tournament for the U-20 team.
