Nick Hipa's Musical Journey
Nick Hipa began his music career with a band called Evelynn. This band signed with Pluto Records. In 2001, Evelynn went on tour with another band, As I Lay Dying. As Evelynn started to break up, Nick Hipa joined As I Lay Dying in 2003.
As I Lay Dying had the same band members for many years, starting in 2007. However, after some challenges the band faced, Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso, and Josh Gilbert left the group. These friends, along with As I Lay Dying's drummer Jordan Mancino and Oh, Sleeper's Shane Blay, decided to form a new band called Wovenwar.
Later, Jordan Mancino mentioned that As I Lay Dying was still technically a five-member band, including himself, Tim Lambesis, Nick Hipa, Josh Gilbert, and Phil Sgrosso. Nick Hipa played lead guitar for Wovenwar. He was featured on their albums Wovenwar (released in 2014) and Honor Is Dead (released in 2016).
In 2017, Tim Lambesis started As I Lay Dying again with all new members. He said that none of the old members, including Nick Hipa, would come back. But on June 8, 2018, it was confirmed that Nick Hipa and the "classic" lineup of As I Lay Dying reunited with Tim Lambesis. They released a song called "My Own Grave". On April 12, 2019, the band released another song, "Redefined," which also featured August Burns Red's singer, Jake Luhrs.
Nick Hipa also made a guest appearance on the TV show Billy on the Street.
On August 15, 2020, news came out that Nick Hipa had left As I Lay Dying. In July 2022, it was announced that Nick Hipa would play with the band God Forbid for their reunion concert.
Nick Hipa's Beliefs
