Nick Mackey is an American who used to be a police officer, a lawyer, and a politician. He was a member of the Democratic Party and served in the North Carolina House of Representatives. He represented the 99th district in North Carolina.

Early Career and Public Service
Nick Mackey worked as a police officer for 14 years in Charlotte, North Carolina. He left the police department in 2003.
Later, he ran to become the sheriff of Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He won the election at first, but the results were later changed. Someone else, Daniel "Chipp" Bailey, became sheriff instead.
Serving in the North Carolina House
In 2009, Nick Mackey was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives. He represented the 99th district. He took over this role from Drew Saunders.
In 2010, Nick Mackey's license to practice law was temporarily suspended. This was because of information he did not share when he applied for his license in 2002. The day after his law license was suspended, he ran for re-election but did not win. Rodney Moore won the primary election instead and later became the representative for the 99th district. Nick Mackey's law license was given back to him in June 2011.
Later Career and Legal Matters
In 2016, a person who was one of Nick Mackey's law clients was released from prison. This person had served 10 years of a 30-year sentence. A court found that Nick Mackey had not been fully attentive during the client's trial.
In 2020, Nick Mackey admitted to certain actions that led to his law license being permanently taken away in February 2022.
