Nickelodeon Launch Box was an exciting educational TV show. It was made by Nickelodeon, NASA, and the Astronauts Memorial Foundation. The main goal of the show was to teach kids about space travel and the amazing technology used to explore space.

This show was part of a program called Cable in the Classroom. This meant that teachers could record the episodes. Then, they could show them to their students in class. Each episode also had special parts just for teachers. These parts gave ideas for lessons and other helpful tools. The show was filmed live at Nickelodeon Studios. It even used sets from other popular Nickelodeon shows. These included What Would You Do? and Double Dare.

Nickelodeon Launch Box first aired on Nickelodeon on May 9, 1991. The last new episode was on March 11, 1994. After that, the show continued to air as reruns. You could often catch it in the early morning. This was usually right after Nick at Nite finished. Reruns continued until September 1, 2000.

Exploring Space with Launch Box

Nickelodeon Launch Box helped young viewers learn about many cool space topics. It covered everything from astronaut training to what it's like to live in space. The show made learning about the universe fun and easy to understand.

The show had nine episodes. Each one focused on a different part of space exploration. For example, one episode explained how a spacesuit works. Another episode showed what daily life was like on the Space Shuttle. This included how astronauts eat and even how they use the bathroom in space!

Training for Space

One episode took viewers to Space Camp. This is a special place at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Kids learned about the training astronauts need. They even met a former Senator, Jake Garn. He talked about his own mission on the Space Shuttle.

Our Planet and Beyond

Other episodes explored our own planet Earth from space. They showed how satellites help us study Earth. The show also took viewers on journeys to other planets. Some episodes explored the inner planets like Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. Others ventured out to the outer planets. These included Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The show used fun ways to teach facts. For example, they played a game show about Earth. They also used characters like Ren & Stimpy to explain science rules.
