History of the Slime Streak
The idea for the Nickelodeon Universe theme park, including this roller coaster, began to take shape around 2016. This was when the company Triple Five Group took over the American Dream Meadowlands project.
By late 2017, early drawings of the park already showed the coaster. In November 2018, a special train for the ride was even put on display. This happened at a big expo for amusement park attractions.
In February 2019, officials shared exciting news about the park. They announced that this new coaster would be called Nickelodeon Slime Streak. They also showed off its plans and details. The ride was designed to look like Nickelodeon's famous green slime!
Nickelodeon Slime Streak officially opened on October 25, 2019. This was the same day the Nickelodeon Universe park first welcomed guests. It was one of the first roller coasters to open in the park.
About the Ride
What's the Ride Like?
When you get on Nickelodeon Slime Streak, your adventure begins with a slight turn. Then, your car starts climbing up the Lift hill. This hill takes you up to the highest point of the ride.
Once you reach the top, about 70 feet high, you'll drop down. The track then curves and goes up into an "airtime hill." This is where you might feel a fun floating sensation!
The ride continues with more airtime hills and turns. You'll even zoom around the Jimmy Neutron's Atomic Smasher attraction. The coaster passes right over Timmy's Halfpipe Havoc. After a few more small bumps, the ride slows down and returns to the station. The whole ride lasts about 70 seconds.
Cool Ride Facts
Nickelodeon Slime Streak's track is about 1,263 feet long. Its highest point is 70 feet tall. The coaster can reach a top speed of 37 miles per hour!
Even though the ride is 70 feet high, the station where you get on is about 12 feet off the ground. The ride has 10 spots where you might feel "airtime." This means you could feel lighter, almost like you're floating!
The coaster uses one train that can hold 20 riders. Each train has five cars, and two riders sit in each row. To ride, you need to be at least 42 inches tall. Some riders have mentioned that the seats and safety bars can feel a bit snug.
Who Made the Coaster?
Nickelodeon Slime Streak was built by a company called Chance Rides. They are located in Wichita, Kansas. The ride was designed by Joe Draves, a talented roller coaster engineer. He also helped design other cool coasters like Steel Curtain and Merlin's Mayhem. This type of coaster is known as a Family Twister Coaster.
