Sjoukje Maria Diderika Troelstra-Bokma de Boer (born February 13, 1860 – died January 9, 1939) was a famous Dutch children's author. She is much better known by her pen name, Nienke van Hichtum. She wrote many popular books and stories for young readers. From 1888 to 1904, she was married to Pieter Jelles Troelstra, a well-known political leader. They had two children, a daughter named Dieuwke and a son named Jelle. Her son Jelle later became a sculptor and graphic designer.

Nienke van Hichtum was born in a small village called Nes in the Netherlands. Her full birth name was Sjoukje Maria Diderika Bokma de Boer. She was the fifth and youngest daughter in her family. Her father was a preacher.

Nienke van Hichtum wrote books and stories in two languages. She wrote in West Frisian, which was her native language. She also wrote in Dutch. She became very well-known for her children's books. Her stories often taught important lessons or shared exciting adventures.
