Francis Nigel Napier (born December 5, 1930 – died March 15, 2012) was a Scottish soldier. He also worked for the British Royal Family for many years. He held important titles like the 14th Lord Napier.
His father was William Napier, who was the 13th Lord Napier. His mother was Violet Muir Newson.

Early Life and Military Career
Francis Nigel Napier went to two famous schools. He studied at Eton, a well-known boarding school. Then he went to Sandhurst, which is a special military academy.
In 1950, he joined the Scots Guards. This is a part of the British Army. He served as a soldier in Malaya.
When his father passed away in 1954, Francis Nigel Napier became the 14th Lord Napier. This title was passed down through his family. He also became the leader of his family's Scottish clan, Clan Napier. This role is called a clan chief.
Working for the Royal Family
After leaving the army, Lord Napier started working for the Royal Family.
Equerry to the Duke of Gloucester
From 1958 to 1960, he was an equerry to Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. An equerry is like a personal assistant to a member of the Royal Family. They help with daily duties and official events.
Working with Princess Margaret
Later, Lord Napier worked closely with Princess Margaret. She was the sister of Queen Elizabeth II.
- In 1973, he became a temporary equerry for Princess Margaret.
- From 1975 to 1998, he was her Comptroller and Private Secretary. This meant he managed her household and handled her personal affairs.
- He also served as her Treasurer until her death in 2002. This role involved managing her finances.
