In 2015, she won a special award called the BBC 100 Women Award. She received this award for her amazing business ideas and for speaking up for Aboriginal graphic design.

About Nikita Ridgeway

Nikita Ridgeway was born in 1986. She is part of the Bundjalung and Biripi Aboriginal communities. Her parents are Steven and Dianne Ridgeway. Her grandmother was Ruby Langford Ginibi, a famous historian and writer.

Nikita went to Blacktown Girls' High School. She was the first Koori student to become the school captain. This was a big achievement!

Her Creative Work

Nikita is a graphic designer. She started a social media account called Dreamtime Ink Australia. This account shows off beautiful Aboriginal tattoo art from Australia.

She also owns her own company, Boss Lady Creative Design Agency. This company focuses on Aboriginal graphic design. In 2020, Nikita created artwork for National Reconciliation Week. This is a special time in Australia to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

In 2021, Nikita designed the brand for Coles' Supermarkets' green energy plan. She also created Indigenous artwork for two fire trucks. These trucks are used by the Wreck Bay Rural Fire Brigade in Australia. This brigade is run by the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council.

Nikita has worked on many projects across Australia and even internationally. She designed the logo for Sydney Water's Innovation Festival in 2021. She also helped the First Nations Foundation create a special toolkit about superannuation.

Music and More

Nikita also started Australia's first Indigenous hip-hop record label. She created it with her brother, Stephen. The label is called Redfern Records. It was named after the Redfern neighborhood in Sydney where they grew up.
