Nikolay Sergeyevich Chebotko (born October 25, 1982 – died January 24, 2021) was an amazing Kazakhstani cross-country skier. He was known for his speed and skill on the snow. Nikolay competed in many big international events, showing off his talent to the world. He was a true champion for Kazakhstan.

Nikolay Chebotko's Skiing Journey

Nikolay Chebotko started his professional skiing career in 2000. He quickly became one of Kazakhstan's top cross-country skiers. He competed in races all over the world. These races included the biggest events in the sport.

Olympic Appearances

Nikolay proudly represented Kazakhstan in four Winter Olympics. These are the biggest sports events in the world. His best Olympic result was finishing fifth in the team sprint event. This happened at the 2010 Vancouver Games. It was a fantastic achievement for him and his team.

World Championship Success

Nikolay also competed in the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. These championships bring together the best skiers globally. In 2013, he won a bronze medal in the team sprint event. This was at the World Championships held in Val di Fiemme, Italy. He achieved this great win with his teammate, Alexey Poltoranin.

Asian Games Triumphs

Nikolay Chebotko had many successes at the Asian Games. These games are a huge sports event for athletes from Asia. He won several medals, showing his dominance in the region.

Gold Medals at Asian Games

  • In 2007, he won a gold medal in the 4×10 km relay in Changchun, China.
  • In 2011, he won two more gold medals in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
    • One was in the team freestyle sprint with Alexey Poltoranin.

Nikolay Chebotko's Legacy

Nikolay Chebotko was a dedicated athlete who inspired many. He competed until 2019, showing his passion for cross-country skiing for nearly two decades. Sadly, Nikolay passed away in a car accident near Borovoye on January 24, 2021. He will always be remembered as a great skier and a true sportsman from Kazakhstan.
