Even though he never won the biggest titles in Greece, like the Super League or the Greek Cup, he is still considered one of the most important Greek football managers of his time. He managed many different teams during his 35-year career.
Football Career Highlights
Nikos Alefantos started his football journey as a player. He played as a midfielder for several teams. Some of the clubs he played for included Rouf, Panathinaikos, and Olympiacos. He played for Olympiacos in the late 1950s.
Coaching Many Teams
After his playing days, Alefantos became a football coach. He managed a lot of different clubs in the Greek Super League. He was known for taking on many coaching jobs, sometimes for short periods.
He coached Olympiacos three different times. These were in 1983-84, 1993-94, and 2003-04. He also coached Iraklis. In the 1985-86 season, he helped Iraklis move up from a difficult spot to finish 4th in the league.
One time, in 2002, he became the manager of Fostiras. However, he left the club on the very same day he joined. This happened because one of the players, Dimitrios Moutas, did not want to train with him.
