Nikos Anastopoulos (born January 22, 1958) is a famous Greek former football player and manager. He was one of the best strikers in the Greek league during the 1980s. Many people consider him one of the greatest players in Greek football history.
Anastopoulos started his career at Panionios in 1976. He quickly became a key player and helped his team win the cup in 1979. After playing very well in a European competition, he joined Olympiacos. He became a favorite among Olympiacos fans and scored many goals for the club. In the 1982–83 season, he won the Bronze Boot as the third-highest scorer in Europe.
He was very important to Olympiacos's success in the 1980s, helping them win four league championships. After a short time playing in Italy for Avellino, he returned to Greece. He played for Panionios again, then returned to Olympiacos. He helped Olympiacos win two more Greek Football Cups before moving to Ionikos. He finished his playing career back at Olympiacos in 1993.
Anastopoulos also played for the Greek national team. He played 74 games, which was a record at the time. With 29 goals, he is still the top scorer for the Greek national team. He also scored Greece's first goal ever in a major international tournament at the 1980 European Championship.
After retiring as a player, he became a football manager. He has had success with several clubs, including PAS Giannina, Panachaiki, Aris, OFI, and Kalamata. He is known for his direct style and for helping teams get promoted or avoid being moved to a lower league.

Playing for Clubs: A Football Journey
Nikos Anastopoulos was born on January 22, 1958. He began his football journey at a club called Dafni. Later, he joined Panionios and played his first professional game in the top Greek league in the 1977–78 season.
Winning the Greek Cup with Panionios
Thanks to Anastopoulos's great play, Panionios won the Greek Cup in 1979. They beat a strong team, AEK Athens, with a score of 3–1. He also played well in European games, scoring goals against FC Twente and IFK Göteborg. His impressive skills led to many clubs wanting to sign him.
Becoming a Star at Olympiacos
In 1980, Anastopoulos joined Olympiacos, one of Greece's biggest clubs. Fans gave him the nickname "Moustakias" because of his mustache. He became the top scorer in the Greek league four times: in 1982–83 (29 goals), 1983–84 (18 goals), 1985–86 (19 goals), and 1986–87 (16 goals). His 29 goals in 1982–83 earned him the Bronze Boot, making him the third-highest scorer in all of Europe that season!
A Short Time in Italy and Return to Greece
Before the 1987–88 season, Anastopoulos moved to Italy to play for Avellino in Serie A. While he played well in the Italian Cup, he did not score any goals in the league. He returned to Greece the next season.
After almost joining AEK Athens, Anastopoulos decided to go back to Panionios. He later played for Olympiacos again, then for Ionikos. He finished his playing career with Olympiacos once more after the 1993–94 season.
Playing for Greece: A National Hero
On September 21, 1977, Nikos Anastopoulos played his first game for the Greek national team. During his career, he played 75 games and scored 29 goals. This made him the top scorer for Greece, a record he still holds.
He was part of the Greek team that played in the finals of Euro 1980. In that tournament, he scored Greece's only goal with a header against Czechoslovakia. This was a historic moment as it was Greece's first goal ever in a major international competition.

After he stopped playing, Nikos Anastopoulos became a football manager. He has managed many teams in Greece.
