Nikos Tsiforos (Greek: Νίκος Τσιφόρος) was a famous Greek writer and director. He was born on August 27, 1912, and passed away on August 6, 1970. He was known for his funny stories and plays.
Nikos Tsiforos wrote over 60 movie scripts. He also directed 17 films between 1948 and 1961.
About Nikos Tsiforos
Nikos Tsiforos was born in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1912. When he was two years old, his family moved to Athens, Greece. Nikos loved writing from a young age. He started writing when he was just eleven years old!
In 1938, he wrote his first play. It was shown in an outdoor theater. Even though it wasn't a huge success, Nikos didn't give up. He studied Law at university. After that, he worked for two years at a council that supervised elections. But he soon left that job to travel the world by sea.
Nikos changed jobs often. But he always kept writing movie scripts and other stories. His big chance came in 1944. A theater company performed his play called "The Portrait Gallery of Dolts." In 1948, he wrote and directed his first movie, Last Mission.
He also worked as a reporter for newspapers and magazines in Athens. All this time, he kept writing! He wrote more than 40 plays for the theater. He also wrote over 80 movie scripts.
Nikos Tsiforos often worked with another writer, Polyvios Vassiliadis. They wrote many popular movie scripts together. People loved their clever jokes and funny stories. Many experts say that Nikos Tsiforos was amazing at using everyday Greek language in his writing.
