Nilson Loyola's Football Journey

Starting Young

Nilson Loyola was born in Lima, Peru. He began his football journey at a young age. In 2004, when he was just ten years old, he joined the youth team of Sporting Cristal.

At first, Nilson played as an attacker, also known as a forward. Later, he changed his position to a left winger, which means he played on the left side of the field and helped with attacks. He left Sporting Cristal in 2013.

Playing for Melgar

In January 2014, Nilson joined another club called FBC Melgar. He first played with their reserve team, which is a team for younger players or those who are not yet in the main squad.

Nilson made his first appearance for Melgar's main team on February 22, 2014. This was during a tournament called the Copa Inca. His team won the game 2–0 against Sport Huancayo.

After playing one more match in that tournament, Nilson spent the rest of 2014 with the reserve team. He returned to the main squad in 2015. His team, Melgar, won the Clausura title that year.

For the 2016 season, Nilson was officially promoted to the main team. The coach, Juan Reynoso, made him a regular starter. Nilson scored his first goal for Melgar on May 18, 2016. It was an equalizer goal against his old team, Sporting Cristal.

Moving to Goiás

On December 27, 2018, Nilson Loyola signed with a Brazilian club called Goiás. This was a big step in his career, moving to play football in another country.

Playing for Peru

First Call-Ups

Nilson Loyola also plays for his country, Peru. On August 22, 2016, the manager of the Peruvian national team, Ricardo Gareca, called him up to join the squad. This was for two important matches to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Even though he was called up, Nilson did not play in those first two matches. He made his official international debut on November 11, 2016. He came on as a substitute in the second half of a game against Paraguay, which Peru won 4–1.

World Cup Dreams

On November 16, 2016, Nilson got his first chance to start a game for Peru. This was because another player, Miguel Trauco, was not able to play. Peru played against Brazil and lost 2–0.

In May 2018, Nilson was chosen for Peru's provisional squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. This is a huge honor for any football player, as it means they might get to play in the biggest football tournament in the world.
