Nilson Loyola's Club Journey
Starting Young: Sporting Cristal
Nilson Loyola was born in Lima, Peru. He began his football journey at a young age. In 2004, when he was just ten years old, he joined the youth team of Sporting Cristal. He started out playing as a forward, trying to score goals for his team.
Later, he changed his position to a left winger. This means he played more on the side of the field, helping both with defense and attack. He stayed with Sporting Cristal's youth setup until 2013.
Playing for Melgar
In January 2014, Loyola moved to FBC Melgar. At first, he played with their reserve team. He made his first appearance for the main team on February 22, 2014. This was in a match against Sport Huancayo during the Copa Inca tournament. Melgar won that game 2–0.
After playing one more match in the Copa Inca, he spent the rest of 2014 with the B-team. He returned to the main squad in 2015. That year, Melgar won the Clausura title in the Torneo Descentralizado.
For the 2016 season, Loyola became a regular player for Melgar. He scored his first goal for the club on May 18, 2016. It was an important goal that tied the score against his old team, Sporting Cristal.
Moving to Goiás and Back to Sporting Cristal
On December 27, 2018, Nilson Loyola signed with Goiás, a club in Brazil. He played there for a short time.
In 2019, he returned to Sporting Cristal, the club where he started as a young player. He played for Sporting Cristal until 2023. In 2024, he joined UCV.
Nilson Loyola's International Career
Playing for Peru
Nilson Loyola's talent was noticed by the Peru national team manager, Ricardo Gareca. On August 22, 2016, he was called up to the national team. This was for two important matches in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He made his first international appearance on November 11, 2016. He came into the game as a substitute against Paraguay. Peru won that match 4–1.
A few days later, on November 16, 2016, Loyola started his first game for Peru. This was against Brazil.
World Cup Dream
In May 2018, Nilson Loyola was chosen for Peru's team that would play in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. This was a huge achievement for him and his country.
