Chronology
Preceded by Nilus the Sandman: The First Day (1995)

Nilus the Sandman is a fun Canadian TV show. It mixes real-life scenes with animated cartoon parts. The show first aired on The Family Channel from October 5, 1996, to November 23, 1998.

Before the main series, there were three special TV movies about Nilus the Sandman. These aired between 1991 and 1995 on CTV. The series was made by Cambium Film & Video Productions and Delaney & Friends Cartoon Productions.

The show is about Nilus, who is the Sandman. He helps kids and teens by visiting them in their dreams. The dream parts of the show are animated. The parts at the start and end of each episode are live-action. These scenes were filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia. The series has 26 episodes over two seasons.

Later, the show was also shown on A Channel in Alberta and MTN in Manitoba.

What the Show is About

Nilus the Sandman helps kids with their daily problems. He does this by guiding them to have happier dreams. When children are asleep, Nilus quietly enters their rooms. He takes special sand from his pocket and sprinkles it into the air. This sand then takes the children into their animated dream world.

In their dreams, the children are often surprised to see themselves as cartoon characters. They then go on adventures with Nilus. They meet his friendly helpers, like a talking clam and a camel. These friends help Nilus on his important missions to make dreams better.
