Nimco Ahmed has done many important things in her career. She helps people understand how politics works. She also encourages them to take part in their communities.
Leading the DFL Party
From 2014, Nimco Ahmed was the State Director for the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party (DFL). The DFL is a major political party in Minnesota. As State Director, she helped lead the party's activities across the state.
She also helped train people through the DFL Somali Caucus. A caucus is a group of people who share similar interests. The Somali Caucus helps Somali-Americans learn about politics and get involved.
Helping the City and Young Voters
Nimco Ahmed also works as a policy aide. She helps the vice president of the Minneapolis City Council. The City Council makes important decisions for the city of Minneapolis.
She also helped start two important groups. One is the Minnesota League of Young Voters. This group helps young people learn about voting. The other is the FATA non-profit organization. Non-profit groups work for a cause, not for money.
Learning and Community Service
From 2009 to 2010, Nimco Ahmed was a special fellow. She studied at the Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. This institute is part of the University of Minnesota.
