The Lebovic Centre for Arts & Entertainment – Nineteen on the Park is a special place in Stouffville, Ontario. It's a busy spot for arts and fun, and it's also one of the oldest buildings still standing in the town.

A Historic Building in Stouffville

This amazing building was finished in 1896. That's over 125 years ago! It has two floors and is made of brick. The way it's built shows off a style called Romanesque Revival. This means it looks a bit like old Roman buildings, with strong, rounded arches and solid shapes.

What Was It Before?

Over the years, this building has had many different jobs. When it was first built, it was a place for markets and concerts. Imagine buying fresh food or watching a show there!

Later, it became a movie theatre where people watched films. It was also a bowling alley and a billiard hall, which is a place for playing pool. For a while, it even served as a garage.

Eventually, it became the Stouffville Town Hall. This is where the town's leaders met and made important decisions for the community. It was used as the Town Hall until the late 1990s. After that, artists used the building for their work until the mid-2000s.

A New Life for the Building

In 2009, the building got a big makeover! It was completely updated and changed into a modern place for many different activities. Now, it's called the Lebovic Centre for Arts & Entertainment.

It has a theatre called the Great Hall, which can seat 152 people for shows and performances. There's also a community room for meetings and events. The building's name, "Lebovic Centre," comes from a local home builder named Lebovic Homes. They helped support the building's new life, and in return, it was named after them.
