Nobuhisa Yamada, born on September 10, 1975, is a famous Japanese football player. He used to play as a defender or midfielder. He spent his entire professional career playing for the Urawa Reds, a well-known team in Japan's J1 League. He played over 500 games for them! He also played for the Japan national team 15 times.

Playing for Clubs
Starting His Career
Nobuhisa Yamada went to Fujieda Higashi High School. He played football there before becoming a professional. After high school, he joined the Urawa Reds team in 1994. His first game in the league was on April 27, 1994. He played against Shimizu S-Pulse at Kusanagi Athletic Stadium. He scored his first professional goal on November 19, 1994. This goal was against Yokohama Marinos.
His Time at Urawa Reds
Yamada mostly played on the right side of the field. He was either a defender or a midfielder. But he was very versatile! He also played as a stopper, a libero, and even an attacking midfielder. He played more than 500 league matches for Urawa Reds. This shows how important he was to the team.
He was also the team captain from 2004 to 2008. During his time, the Urawa Reds won many big titles. They won the J1 League in 2006. They also won the 2003 J.League Cup in 2003. The team won the Emperor's Cup twice, in 2005 and 2006.
In Asia, the Urawa Reds also had great success. They won the 2007 AFC Champions League in 2007. They also finished third in the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup. Nobuhisa Yamada announced that he would retire from playing football at the end of the 2013 season.
Playing for Japan
Youth National Team
Nobuhisa Yamada played for Japan's national teams at younger ages. He was part of the Japan U-20 national team. This team played in the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship. This big tournament was held in Qatar. Yamada played in all 4 matches for the team. He played as a right midfielder. He even scored a goal against Burundi in that tournament.
Senior National Team
Yamada made his first game for the main Japan national team on November 20, 2002. This was a friendly game against Argentina. It took place at Saitama Stadium 2002. In 2003, he played in most matches as a right side-back. This included games in the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup.
He scored his first goal for the national team on February 7, 2004. This was in a friendly game against Malaysia. The game was played at Kashima Soccer Stadium. He played a total of 15 games for Japan. He scored 1 goal for his country before 2004.
