Nobutoshi Kaneda (金田 喜稔, Kaneda Nobutoshi, born February 16, 1958) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a forward or midfielder. Kaneda was a key player for the Japan national team.

Playing for Clubs

Nobutoshi Kaneda was born in Fuchu, Hiroshima on February 16, 1958. After finishing his studies at Chuo University, he joined a football club called Nissan Motors in 1980.

Winning Trophies

Kaneda's time at Nissan Motors was very successful.

  • The club won the Emperor's Cup in 1983 and again in 1985.
  • From 1988 to 1990, Nissan Motors had an amazing winning streak. They won all three major football titles in Japan for two years in a row! These titles were the Japan Soccer League, the JSL Cup, and the Emperor's Cup.

Kaneda played 157 games in the league and scored 21 goals for Nissan Motors. He was even chosen as one of the "Best Eleven" players in the 1983 season. He stopped playing professional football in 1991.

Nobutoshi Kaneda also played for his country, the Japan national team.

Making History

  • He made his first appearance for the national team on June 15, 1977.
  • He scored a goal in that very first game against South Korea.
  • At the time, he was only 19 years old, which set a new record! He became the youngest player ever to score a goal for the Japan national team.

Kaneda represented Japan in big tournaments like the 1978 and 1982 Asian Games. He played a total of 58 games for Japan and scored 6 goals before he finished his national team career in 1984.
