Nomzamo Nxumalo Mbatha (born on 13 July 1990) is a talented South African actress. She is also a television personality, businesswoman, and human rights activist. Many people know her for playing Thandeka Zungu in the TV show Isibaya. She also starred as Mirembe in the movie Coming 2 America. More recently, she played Queen Nandi in the series Shaka iLembe.

Early Life and Education
Nomzamo Mbatha was born on 13 July 1990. Her birthplace is KwaMashu Township in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. This area is about 21 kilometers northwest of Durban. She is part of the Zulu ethnic group.
She went to Rippon Primary School in Durban. Later, she attended Bechet High School, where she earned her high school diploma. In 2018, she graduated from the University of Cape Town. She earned a degree in Commerce, specializing in accounting.
Her Acting Journey
Nomzamo Mbatha started her acting career in July 2012. She auditioned for a TV show and was chosen from over 600 people. She made it to the top 10 finalists.
First Big Roles
In 2013, she began acting in the TV series Isibaya. She played the main character, Thandeka Zungu. Critics praised her performance in this role. In 2015, she made her first movie appearance in Tell Me Sweet Something. She starred alongside Maps Maponyane. The movie was released on 4 September 2015.
She also appeared in the TV show Umlilo from 2015 to 2016. In the same year, she started hosting a travel show called Holiday Swap. This show was broadcast on the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
Hollywood and Producing
In April 2021, it was announced that Nomzamo was cast in a new movie. The film was first called Soul Assassins and later Die Like Lovers. It was eventually released as Assassin. This movie was also the last film for actor Bruce Willis.
In 2022, Mbatha shared that she was cast as Nandi in the TV series Shaka iLembe. This show tells the story of King Shaka. She also helped produce the series. Before these big roles, Mbatha signed with Creative Artists Agency. This is a well-known talent management company.

In 2018, Nomzamo Mbatha was honored by OkayAfrica Digital Media. She was named one of the OkayAfrika 100 Women 2018 Honorees.
Work as an Ambassador
As a UNHCR Ambassador, she visited Kenyan refugee camps in 2018. In January 2019, she was officially appointed a UNHCR goodwill ambassador. This role involves helping refugees around the world.
In October 2019, she became an honorary member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. In 2025, Mbatha was announced as the first South African ambassador for Creme of Nature. She has also been a recurring host for the Global Citizen Festival from 2022 to 2025.
