What is a Regular Nonagon?
A regular nonagon is a nonagon where all nine sides are exactly the same length. Also, all nine corners (or angles) inside the shape are the same size.
Each corner in a regular nonagon measures about 147.27 degrees. If you add up all the angles inside a regular nonagon, the total is 1260 degrees.
How Big is a Nonagon?
The amount of space a nonagon covers is called its area. For a regular nonagon, if you know the length of one side (let's call it 'a'), you can calculate its area. The area tells you how much flat surface the nonagon takes up.
Nonagons and Tilings
Shapes can sometimes fit together perfectly without any gaps, like tiles on a floor. This is called tessellation or tiling. A regular nonagon cannot tile a flat surface all by itself without leaving gaps.
However, nonagons can be part of more complex tilings. For example, you can use regular nonagons along with other shapes, like hexagons and triangles, to cover a surface completely.
