Norihiro Nishi (born May 9, 1980) is a former Japanese football player. He was a talented midfielder who played for several clubs. He also represented the Japan national team. Nishi was known for his skills on the field.

Club Career Highlights

Norihiro Nishi was born in Takatsuki, Japan. After finishing high school, he started his professional career. He joined Júbilo Iwata in 1999. He quickly became an important player for the team.

Success with Júbilo Iwata

Nishi played many matches in his first season. During his time at Júbilo Iwata, the club won several big titles. They won the J1 League championship in 1999 and 2002. They also won the Emperor's Cup in 2003.

In Asia, Júbilo Iwata also had great success. They won the 1998–99 Asian Club Championship. This is a major tournament for clubs in Asia. Nishi helped his team achieve these victories.

Later Career and Retirement

After many successful years, Nishi faced some injuries. This reduced his playing time for a while. However, he made a strong comeback in 2009 and 2010. During this period, Júbilo Iwata won the 2010 J.League Cup.

In 2012, Nishi moved to Tokyo Verdy. He played there for two seasons. Later, he played for Police United in 2014. His final club was Okinawa SV in 2016. Norihiro Nishi retired from football at the end of the 2016 season.

National Team Journey

Norihiro Nishi also had a chance to play for his country. In September 2000, he was chosen for the Japan U-23 national team. This team played in the 2000 Summer Olympics. Although he was part of the squad, he did not play in any matches.

Playing for Japan's Senior Team

Nishi made his debut for the Japan national team on April 25, 2004. This was in a match against Hungary. Later that year, he was selected for the 2004 AFC Asian Cup. This is a very important tournament in Asian football.

Nishi played two matches in the 2004 Asian Cup. Japan went on to win the championship! He played a total of five games for Japan in 2004.
