Norman Earl Hutchins (born September 27, 1962 – died June 5, 2025) was a talented American gospel musician. He began his solo music journey in 1992. Over 21 years, he released ten albums. Seven of these albums became very popular. They even made it onto Billboard magazine's Gospel Albums chart.

Norman Hutchins' Early Life
Norman Hutchins was born on September 27, 1962, in Delaware. He started preaching at a very young age, just 8 years old. By the time he was 12, he was officially ordained as a preacher.
His preaching helped him earn money. He made $100 each evening. This money helped him support his mother and his ten brothers and sisters.
When he was 19, he moved to Delaware, Pennsylvania, with his wife. There, he became a preacher at Hope Church of God in Christ. Later, he moved to Los Angeles. He worked different jobs there. He felt called to be a music minister at West Angeles COGIC. After that, he moved back to Delaware. He started a ministry called Frontline Ministries. He also earned advanced degrees in biblical counseling and church administration.
Norman Hutchins' Music Career
Norman Hutchins' music career officially began in 1992. He released his first album, Norman Hutchins, with Sparrow Records. In 1993, he released another album called Don't Stop Praying. These first two albums did not become very popular on the music charts.
He found more success when he joined JDI Records in 1999. His third album, Nobody But You, was released then. This album was his first to appear on Billboard magazine's Gospel Albums chart.
His next two albums with JDI Records also did well. These were Battlefield (1999) and Emmanuel (2001). However, his 2002 album, Battlefield: The Sermon, did not make it onto the charts.
Later, he signed with IR Records. He released several more successful albums with them. These included Spontaneous Praise, Vol. 1 (2008), God Is Faithful (2009), If You Didn't Know... Now You Know (2011), and Hosanna (2013). All of these albums charted on the Gospel Albums list. Norman Hutchins was nominated for many awards. He received eight Dove Award nominations and eight Stellar Award nominations. He was also nominated for Grammy Awards.
Norman Hutchins' Personal Life and Passing
Norman Hutchins married his first wife, Michelle, when he was 19. They had three children together.
After their divorce, he married his second wife, Karen. They worked together to start Frontline Ministries in Dover, Delaware.
Norman Hutchins faced some health challenges. He had diabetes, which caused him to lose some of his eyesight. He even went temporarily blind. His kidneys also began to fail. His wife, Karen, was a match and bravely donated one of her kidneys to him.
Norman Hutchins passed away at his home in Carson, California, on June 5, 2025. He was 62 years old.
