Norte de Santander is a cool place in Colombia. It's like a big state or region. Its main city, or capital, is Cúcuta. This department is way up north in Colombia, right next to Venezuela. It got its name from a famous Colombian hero, Francisco de Paula Santander.

About Norte de Santander
Norte de Santander was officially created on July 25, 1910. It is part of the Andes Region of Colombia. The department has a total area of about 21,658 square kilometers. That's a pretty big area!
In 2018, about 1.5 million people lived in Norte de Santander. The capital city, Cúcuta, is where most of the government and business activities happen.
Cities and Towns
Norte de Santander is divided into many smaller areas called municipalities. These are like towns or small cities. There are 40 municipalities in total. They are grouped into six main regions to help manage them better.
Western Region
This region includes towns like Abrego, Ocaña, and Teorama. These places often have beautiful landscapes and a rich history.
Northern Region
In the northern part, you'll find towns such as Tibú and Sardinata. This area is known for its natural resources.
Eastern Region
